Tennis Auckland is an Incorporated Society providing the delivery of tennis services and activities to its member clubs and the general public in the Auckland area. There are over 50 clubs within the region and a further 14 clubs in the associate Counties region with a total membership of 9,500 affiliates.

Tennis Auckland provides four public tennis facilities in Auckland at ASB Tennis Arena (managed by Next Generation Club), Scarbro Tennis Centre in Glen Innes, Nicholson Park in Mt Eden and Manukau Tennis Centre in Manukau.

Tennis Auckland hosts two international tennis tournaments in January each year at ASB Tennis Arena; the ASB Classic featuring many of the world’s top men and women players.

Tennis Auckland’s vision is to make tennis a part of every Aucklander’s life and the purpose is to advance the sport of tennis in the region by enabling rewarding tennis opportunities for everyone on a sustainable basis.

Marcus is a qualified lawyer, who after several years in the corporate world has spent the last 12 years in senior roles across New Zealand’s sports sector.  One such role was with Sport NZ where Marcus managed the relationship with a number of high profile National Sports Organisations including Tennis NZ.   In his spare time, Marcus plays a range of sports including tennis.

Karl has tennis well and truly in his veins having been the Director of Sales and Marketing at WTA for two years and, prior to that, in similar roles at the Australian Open. Karl is focused on making the international tournaments an unforgettable experience for players, spectators and supporters. Karl enjoys many sports, including tennis, but has also excelled in both cricket and rugby.

General Manager ASB Classic

David has over 30 years of experience in the racquets, leisure, resort, sport and education sectors. A UK career in delivering tennis, wider sports management and coaching services domestically and internationally, David moved to New Zealand in 2008.  He was Chief Executive at Tennis Northern for nine years and in 2017 joined Tennis Auckland to take on the role as Facilities Development Manager.  Recently, following the resignation of Mellany Mann, David has taken over as General Manager of the ASB Classic.

Kate Jackson

Finance & Administration Manager

Kate comes from Charles Parsons where she was Finance Manager.  Prior to this Kate has worked as Finance & Admin Manager for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and has also worked as a Business Analyst and Finance Manager with IMG in both NZ and the UK.  As a qualified Chartered Accountant with experience in both the Not-For-Profit and event industries, Kate brings a great skill set to the team.

Mark Lewis

Mark Lewis

Clubs and Schools Manager

Mark has spent his entire life in the sport of tennis.  He was a national junior champion and to this day is the youngest player ever to win the NZ Men’s Singles title beating Kiwi legend Onny Parun in the final.  Mark is a former Davis Cup team member and Top 100 ATP ranked doubles player. Following his playing career Mark coached Tennis Hall of Famer Michael Stich for several years and during that time his protégé won the Wimbledon Singles and Doubles titles, Olympic Gold and reached number two in the world.  Mark is from a renowned tennis family – his older brother Chris was a Wimbledon singles finalist and his younger brother David was a member of the NZ Davis Cup team.  Mark is delighted to be part of the Tennis Auckland family creating opportunities for more people to enjoy the sport he loves.

Regional Performance Manager

James is responsible for the junior development programme for Auckland. This programme is a staged player development pathway endorsed by Tennis NZ run at the Scarbro Tennis Centre. James is well credentialed for this role having been a former Junior Wimbledon and French Open Doubles Champion and represented New Zealand and competed on the international circuit for more than nine years.

Simon Crozier

Simon Crozier

Centres Manager

Simon has been with Tennis Auckland since 2007 and has worked in both regional development and in domestic tournaments. Simon is responsible for the tennis facilities at Scarbro and Manukau including the running of junior and senior tournaments at these centres. Prior to working for Tennis Auckland Simon was involved in the franchise industry where he built his business management skills. Simon is an avid tennis player regularly representing his club in the Tennis Auckland Interclub competition.
