Tennis Auckland Club Awards 2021-22

The Tennis Auckland Club Award winners were announced at a Delegates Meeting held at the Scarbro Tennis Centre on Tuesday 23rd August.

Volunteers who have given long, active and outstanding service for 10 and 20 years received silver and gold badges which were collected on their behalf by club representatives. The badges were presented by Tennis Auckland CEO Rohan West.  Below is the list of recipients:

Silver Honours Awards (10 years service)
George Iugan – Koru Tennis Club
Raz Iugan – Koru Tennis Club
Christine Quick – Lynfield Tennis Club
Indrani de Silva – Lynfield Tennis Club
Peter Stubbing – Campbell Park Tennis Club
Sally Geary – Pt Chevalier Tennis Club
Lloyd Berryman – Pt Chevalier Tennis Club

Gold Honours Awards (20 years service)
Jim Beban – Koru Tennis Club
Dean Hooker – Koru Tennis Club
Elizabeth Georgeson – Koru Tennis Club
Grant Hally – Dunholme Tennis Club
Jenny Fahey – Bucklands Beach Tennis Club
Janine Fletcher – Bucklands Beach Tennis Club
Robert Menzies Snr – Te Pai Park Tennis Club

Tennis Auckland Club Awards were announced for the following categories and we would like to congratulate all clubs for their outstanding achievements over the past year. These awards were presented by Tennis Auckland Vice President Greg Long.

Club Spirit – Pt Chevalier Tennis Club
Club Facilities – Campbell Park Tennis Club
Club Administration – Pompallier Tennis Club
Club Marketing, Membership and Promotion – Manurewa Tennis Club
Club Events – Te Atatu Tennis Club

The Volunteer of the Year and Coach of the Year Awards were presented by Tennis Auckland President Graham Windross. The winners were:

Club Volunteer of the Year – Paul Tibbutt (Pakuranga Tennis Club)
Club Coach of the Year – Gabriel Hernandez (Sunnyhills Tennis Club)

The major award announced on the night was the Tennis Auckland Club of the Year which was presented by Life Member Alan White.

The winning club this year was the Ngatira Tennis Club and the award was collected by former President Greg Lim and current President Chris Canady. The club achieved a lot last year highlighted by its outreach programme which provided free coaching to low decile children, Active Asian members, the Taiwanese Women’s Society, asylum seekers, blind and low-vision individuals and coaching for autistic children.
