Tennis at Alert Level 2.5

  • Post category:News

As Auckland will be remaining at Alert Level 2.5 until at least Wednesday 23 September, we wanted to provide an update to the community on how tennis is operating throughout the region.

Auckland Tournaments – ITF WTT Auckland J5 and Kiwi Money Tournaments

Tournaments scheduled in Auckland at Alert Level 2.5 will continue to go ahead. All participants should have received information on the protocols and procedures put in place to adhere to requirements and keep players safe. If any player has not received this information they are advised to get in touch with organisers.

Spectators are not able to attend these events at Level 2.5. This will be reviewed following the Government announcement on Monday 21 September.

Tennis Auckland Senior Interclub

Tennis Auckland Senior Interclub will not start as planned this Saturday 19 September and will be reviewed when gathering sizes are increased to a minimum of 50-100 people. Tennis Auckland will contact Interclub controllers regarding start times following the Government announcement on Monday 21 September.  We hope that play can start on Saturday 26 September but will confirm early next week.

All information has been provided to Interclub Controllers, and players are urged to touch base with their club representative if they have any questions.

Coaching and National Programmes

All coaching and National Programmes are currently running at Scarbro Tennis Centre, with bookings open via the Tennis Auckland website. The only exception to this is Blue Stage Hot Shots, which is currently on hold until Alert Level’s drop.

Alert Level 2.5 protocols are in place at the venue and all participants have been sent information on procedures. If participants have any questions they are advised to contact their Coach or check the Tennis Auckland website for details.

Tennis Auckland Indoor Competitions

Tennis Auckland Indoor Competitions (Evening Indoor, Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles) are currently running at Scarbro Tennis Centre with Alert Level 2.5 protocols in place. All details can be found on the Tennis Auckland website.

Community Play Sessions

The weekly Community Play Sessions at Manukau Tennis, Sports and Community Centre are currently on hold at Alert Level 2.5 due to restrictions on gathering sizes and social distancing requirements.

Following the Government announcement on Monday 21 September we will reassess this programme and make an announcement accordingly.

Court Bookings

The public are able to book courts at both Scarbro Tennis Centre and Manukau Tennis, Sports and Community Centre under Alert Level 2.5. Court bookings are available via the Tennis Auckland website, where users will be able to find information on process, fees and Alert Level 2.5 protocols.
