Tour Excel Coaching Programme

Tennis Auckland has made a decision to prioritise the development of the most outstanding 12th birth year and younger athletes from the Auckland region. This is in keeping with the recent introduction of Tennis New Zealand’s athlete development criteria and represents a strong and specific approach to maximise the likelihood of young Aucklanders reaching these stringent benchmarks. Tennis Auckland will provide specific and targeted coaching support to high-performing Auckland athletes with the goal of these athletes reaching the TNZ Athlete Development Criteria benchmarks. Tennis Auckland will select athletes 2006 birth year and younger to be a part of this programme. Auckland athletes reaching the Tour Excel Criteria are encouraged to apply to join for a 12 month period beginning Feb 1 of each calendar year. For the initial start-up of this programme selections will be done as of July 1 2018 and with run until January 31st 2020. Tennis Auckland have the ability to invite non qualifying athletes at their discretion.

Players must make themselves available to represent the Auckland Region if selected in the National Junior Teams event (unless an exemption is granted by the Tennis Auckland Regional Performance Manager).

Contact Tennis Auckland’s Regional Performance Manager if your child reaches the Criteriajames@tennisauckland.co.nz It is requested that a copy of the athlete’s current weekly training schedule and primary coach contact details be included in the e-mail.
