In 1906 James Pascoe established Pascoes the Jewellers. James was very involved in the tennis community, a keen supporter of Auckland Tennis and the Ngatira Tennis Club as well as representing New Zealand in lawn bowls.

In 1924 he set up the Pascoe Cup, the longest running corporate sponsorship event in New Zealand, which, 102 years later, is still competed for and highly prized today between teams within the Corporate and SME Auckland business community.
