Early Season Form Taking Shape

Another perfect weekend of weather provided ideal conditions for Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2025 Caro Bowl competition, as teams begin to settle into their stride and the early frontrunners emerge.

In the Men’s competition, Next Gen and Parnell sit atop the table and remain unbeaten after four rounds. This weekend will be a major test for Parnell, who face Next Gen on Friday evening before taking on third-placed Pakuranga on Sunday — two matches that could play a crucial role in deciding which teams reach the final.

Royal Oak continue to impress, with three wins from four contests keeping them firmly in contention. Oliver Statham scored an impressive singles victory over Jayden Court on Sunday in Royal Oak’s clash with Pakuranga, though it wasn’t enough to secure the tie, which went to Pakuranga 4–2. Karaka recorded their first win of the season, while Eden Epsom and Remuera remain winless.

In the Women’s competition, Parnell registered two strong wins over the weekend to stay on track for a place in the final, while Next Gen also maintained their unbeaten record. Bucklands Beach edged Royal Oak in a tight mid-table encounter, while Campbell Park and newly promoted Papatoetoe are still searching for their first victory but continue to show great spirit.

It’s shaping up to be a big weekend of tennis ahead, with Parnell and Next Gen set to clash in both the men’s and women’s competitions on Friday night, followed by a crucial Parnell v Pakuranga showdown on Sunday.
