Finalists Confirmed as Parnell and Next Gen Set Up Double Showdown
The final round of Caro Bowl round-robin play delivered plenty of drama as the last remaining finals spots were decided across both the men’s and women’s competitions.
In the Men’s Caro Bowl, Parnell produced a comprehensive victory over Royal Oak to secure their place in the final, setting up a much-anticipated showdown with the unbeaten Next Gen side. Despite a strong final-round win, Pakuranga fell just short of overtaking Parnell, missing out on the finals berth by only a couple of points.
The Men’s Final will be played at Next Gen on Friday, 28 November at 6pm, and promises to showcase some outstanding tennis as the season’s top two teams face off for the title.
In the Women’s Caro Bowl, Parnell continued their strong form, defeating Bucklands Beach to finish top of the table and earn the right to host the women’s final. The final will be a repeat of last year’s decider, with Parnell once again taking on Next Gen. Leading the Parnell charge will be Natalie Espinal, the talented Honduran player who recently claimed the Auckland Champs singles title and has been in excellent form throughout the season.
Both the Men’s and Women’s Finals will begin at 6pm this Friday, 28 November, and spectators can expect two high-quality contests between the competition’s standout teams.
At the lower end of the men’s table, Eden Epsom, who were unable to register a win this season, will be relegated to the Caro Bowl Reserve Grade for 2026.
Be sure to get along on Friday night to support your club and enjoy some of the best tennis New Zealand has to offer!
