2023 Caro Bowl – Week 2 Review

After two weeks of play only two clubs remain unbeaten in the Caro Bowl Men’s Competition.  Next Gen scored a 6-0 win over East Tamaki to head the points table, two points clear of unbeaten Parnell who defeated last year’s finalist Blockhouse Bay.  Rubin Statham made his first appearance for Parnell this season and won his singles comfortably.

Royal Oak and Cockle Bay both registered wins in round three and lie 3rd and 4th on the table.  Blockhouse Bay, Remuera and East Tamaki have yet to win a contest but that will change this Friday when Blockhouse play Remuera in the fourth round.

The situation in the Caro Bowl Women’s Competition is very similar with Parnell and Next Gen unbeaten after three rounds of play.  Both clubs clocked up two victories last weekend and Parnell are now sitting on top of the leaderboard with 21 points ahead of Next Gen on 18.  Bucklands Beach suffered its first loss on Sunday against Cockle Bay, and they currently sit 3rd and 4th respectively on the points table.  Pakuranga won its first game of the season against Campbell Park who have lost all three of their contests.  Royal Oak is the only other side yet to win a contest and they play Campbell Park this Friday in a bottom of the table clash.  Parnell and Next Gen face off this Friday night in a top of the table encounter at Parnell.

There are a full round of Men’s and Women’s contests this Friday 10 November and the men play again on Sunday afternoon.
