2023 Caro Bowl – Week 1 Review

Next Gen and Parnell top the table after winning both of their opening weekend contests in the 2023 Caro Bowl competition.   James Watt and Rob Reynolds chalked up comfortable singles wins in the first two rounds while Finn Tearney won his Sunday singles against Remuera without losing a game. Karaka won both contests to sit third on the table.  Remuera and East Tamaki prop up the table after losing both contests although Remuera put up a good fight against Cockle Bay.

There was only one round of action in the women’s competition on Friday night.  Bucklands Beach swept aside an understrength Campbell Park without the loss of a match to sit at the top of the points table.  Defending champs Next Gen welcomed Pakuranga to the premier grade beating them 5-1 while last year’s finalist Parnell beat newcomers Cockle Bay in a closely fought affair.

There are a full round of Men’s and Women’s contests this Friday 3 November and the women play again on Sunday afternoon.

Full draws and venues are available in the Caro Bowl section at www.tennisauckland.co.nz.  We encourage all tennis fans to come along, support their clubs, watch some great tennis, and enjoy host club hospitality.
